Japanese Garden

When the season changes I start to think of new clothes and what I’m going to sew for myself for the warmer/colder weather, and it’s no different for Barbie clothes either!

This is one of my new designs, the fabric is a gorgeous rich cream vintage silk – in fact it is nearly a light gold- and it is rich to the touch.

Full gathered skirt and a fitted bodice, all finished with tiny bows at the neckline.

Sun is out! Isn’t the fabric gorgeous?

And I love tiny bows- I could make them all day!!

Till next time…

Touring the West

IMG_4494

More holiday snaps from the Wild Atlantic Way! This 1950s inspired frock is made from a navy and white stripe cotton, with a fitted bodice, silver buttons and belt detail with a full gathered skirt. I also included a crinoline under the skirt to give it an extra kick! Perfect for some more sightseeing around the West of Ireland on a sunny day.

Here’s the view at Slieve League Cliffs in Co Donegal…next stop America. They are nearly three times higher than the Cliffs of Moher! Don’t miss them if you are in Donegal. These sea cliffs are the highest on the island of Ireland, however Achill Island can lay claim to the highest sea cliffs in Europe, who knew?

We also visited the fantastic Donegal castle in Donegal town. Construction started in the 15th Century, and it’s been recently restored by the OPW.

Again, we missed Prince Charles by a day.

This was a shop in Clare…I just had to photograph it, isn’t it amazing? What a beautiful colour!

Top of the World

IMG_4383

Well, ok, more like top of Ireland! More holiday photos from the North Antrim and North Donegal coastline… The jacket is red wool boucle fabric with a matching silk scarf, but more of a car coat really.

IMG_4357

This is Malin Head at the top of the Inishowen peninsula, you can just about see in the background ’80 Eire’, this was used during World War 2 as a navigation aid for pilots, so they would know they were flying over neutral Ireland. Each site was numbered from 1 to 83, there are remains all along the west coast, and some have been restored like this one on Malin Head.

IMG_4286

And here we are at the famous Carrick a Rede rope bridge, Game of Thrones fans will recognise this!! It was truly scary to cross, it moves. A LOT.

IMG_4399

More amazing things to see in Glenveagh National Park too, but we just missed Prince Charles visit!! Pity…

IMG_4659

I’m skipping ahead a bit here but I love this Poulnabrone Dolmen in the Burren in County Clare. It dates back to the Neolithic Period between 4200bc-2900BC. Wow.

More to follow!

Hello!

Welcome to Dinah’s Dolls Clothes!

My mission is to bring back some glamour and style to dolls clothes! So, inspired by old movies and vintage fashion and armed with some old patterns and vintage fabric I started experimenting.

Here are some photos from my holidays in Wexford this year…….
