High Crosses and High Fashion

IMG_3733

Monasterboice in Co. Louth is famous for it’s High Crosses especially Muiredach’s High Cross. It is from the 10th or possibly 9th Century and really quite beautiful, and regarded as the finest High Cross in Ireland. The ruins are of an early Christian settlement.

In fact there are three High Crosses at Monasterboice, here is another one in the background.

It was back to Mellifont Abbey for these sunny photos. The 50s wriggle dress is light pink silk with ruffle neckline trim and bow. The swing coat is a fabulous pink and orange tweed, with bias cut pockets. A little pillbox hat finishes the look.

Black and White

I found this lovely black and white stripe duchese satin and thought it would make a beautiful coat and dress, with contrast bodice and coat lining. I used a two tone taffeta in burgundy and purple for the contrast. I love matching coats and dresses as you may have noticed, so chic!

I think the blue background really sets it of too.

Isn’t the painted house pretty??
